Florida Ruby Tuesday Shut Down After State Inspection - 2nd Closure

If you are a Floridian of a certain age, you might remember when there were more Rudy Tuesday locations in Florida than there are today. It used to be relatively easy to find a store to get your salad bar fix. Today it's a little more challenging. Still, many Floridians can still find one of the around 32 locations. Unfortunately, one Ruby Tuesday, in Inverness, was recently temporarily shut down after a state inspection.

About Ruby Tuesday: This eatery got its start in 1972 by the University of Tennessee. There's a focus on both comfort foods like ribs and burgers as well as healthy options like a 55-ingredient salad bar.

The location in question located at 2235 E Gulf To Lake Highway has been rated over 2,200 times on Google reviews, where it earns 4.1 out of 5 stars. Many reviewers compliment the customer service as much as the food.

For example, a reviewer named Samantha wrote:

"Great service! Went here for lunch on Wednesday and Precious was super attentive and friendly! She made the whole lunch enjoyable. I got the hickory salmon which did not disappoint! All in all a great lunch."

What Happened At Inspection?: According to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, an inspection occurred on August 15, 2024. At that time, 9 violations were noted.

Basic violations came due to employees not using a beard guard or hair net, an "accumulation of black substance/grease/food debris" inside of a microwave, and standing water in a walk-in cooler.

High priority violations came because of the observation of live flying objects, and cold foods like tomatoes, macaroni, butter, coleslaw, poultry, and steak being held at too high temperatures.

As a result of some of the above violations, the restaurant was temporarily shut down. As a follow-up inspection on August 15, 2024, one violation remained and the restaurant "met inspection standards" and was free to reopen.

This was not the first closure for this location. It was also closed in July of 2023.

Please note that an inspection is one moment in time and not necessarily how a restaurant conducts itself everyday.
