FL's Authentic German Bakery, Deli, & Beer Garden, Yalaha Country Bakery, Is Reasonably Priced

After writing about Florida's restaurants and attractions for a while, I've learned that Floridians welcome experiences (culinary and otherwise) that will allow them to immerse themselves in other cultures.

Articles that I've written about Amish markets, Cuban restaurants, and Hibachi buffets have been well-received.

However, one type of cuisine that I haven't written much about is German. That might be a mistake on my part because there is arguably much to love about German food, including Black Forest cake, savory sausages, pretzels, and schnitzel.

Floridians who enjoy German baked goods and deli items might be interested in German eateries you can find off the beaten path. Better still, there's a farm close by that offers Amish food.

About Yalaha Country Bakery: You'll find this bakery in Central Florida's Lake County. Yalaha only has a population of around 1,500 so you'll find a small, charming town. The bakery is a family-owned business that was founded in 1995. They provide a huge variety of reasonably-priced, made-from-scratch items, including breads, pastries, cakes, and sandwiches. There is sometimes live entertainment.

Prices are arguably reasonable. A pretzel roll is $1.50. A very large loaf of made-from-scratch German rye bread is $7.65, as is a cinnamon raisin loaf. Eclairs are $5.50 each. A German breakfast including eggs, meat, and toast is $7.95. Wienerschnitzel is $13.45 and a Ruben sandwich is $12.45.

While you are there, know that Blue Bayou Farm is close by - which offers Amish Goods.

Florida Feedback: Over 3,000 people have reviewed this bakery and given it 4.4 out of 5 stars on Google reviews. I had to read very far down to find some negative reviews, and both had to do with long lines and items selling out.

    A reviewer named Sarah wrote:

"If you're looking for authentically German and European baked goods and delicatessen in a beautiful, welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff, this place is it! New favorite spot, for sure!"
