Jacksonville Is Losing Two More Family Dollars

In March of 2024, it was announced that Family Dollar would be closing hundreds of stores. Unfortunately for Floridians, Florida has not been immune to these closings. I've written about locations in Tallahassee and Jacksonville (on Merrill Road.) Unfortunately, that was not the end of Florida's - or Jacksonville's - losses. Another two additional Jacksonville locations are closing, and one is reportedly liquidating.

About The Newly Closing Stores: Jacksonville is losing a downtown location at E. State Street on May 25, 2024. Although a liquidation was planned, it has been reported that many items are already gone.

Patrons give this location 3.5 out of 5 stars on Google reviews and some lament its loss. A reviewer named Latoya wrote, in part:

"...It's sad. We live downtown. They've closed Burger King (and) now Family Dollar."

The second Jacksonville location closing is located on Monument Road. Although it is reported that the Monument location is expected to close "this week," no exact date has been specified. It is also expected that this location will hold a 75% off sale to liquidate.

Patrons give this location 3.8 out of 5 stars. Some complained about bare shelves, but others said that employees were kind. In short, reviews were mixed. A reviewer named Jolynne wrote in part:

"Love the workers, hate the store! They deserve better and more pay. That store is not only behind in stocking badly, but people act stupid in public sometimes and have no manners in store. They trash the place constantly, and the workers can't catch up. They can't catch a break."
