Highly-Rated Fort Myers Publix Reportedly Closing For A Year Due To Remodel

    2024-05-29

By now, it should not be a surprise to Floridians when a Publix undergoes renovations. One could argue that this is no longer a rare occurrence. In the past year alone, I've written about Publix stores in Coral Gables, Lakeland, Spring Hill, and St. Petersburg either being refurbished or demolished and rebuilt. And now, a store in Fort Myers will be undergoing the same process.

About The Fort Myers Store In Question: According to Sembler Properties, the shopping center at Daniels Crossing, at which Publix is the anchor store, receives over 90,000 drivers at its intersection daily.

While the shopping center is 112,003-square-foot, the Publix itself will reportedly undergo a remodel beginning in July of 2024, which is reported to be expected to take approximately a year.

This Publix has been rated over 1,100 times on Google reviews and gets a 4.6 rating. While some had issues with certain departments like the deli, and one person conceded the store was "smaller," most enjoy this Publix.

    A reviewer named William writes:

"A nice, clean Publix - a little smaller than most. Good deli service."

    And Tim writes:

"We really love this store. Staff is always so helpful and friendly. Plus the Key Lime pie is so good!"

Social Media Users Have Mixed Reactions To Publix Closures For Renovations: Since Publix stores being shut down for renovations is becoming increasingly common, there are social media threads about it, since no longer having access to your favorite Publix may require a shopping and pharmacy adjustment.

Some customers are willing to be patient in exchange for upgraded amenities. For example, a poster with the handle catjknow conceded that while upgrading their local Publix was an improvement, due to the addition of an indoor cafe, it took a long time to complete. They wrote of the new Publix:

"Ours has an indoor cafe to eat, but it took over 1.5 (years) to complete the new store."

The author is not affiliated with Publix or any other retailers.
