More Florida Bank Job Losses As A Florida Wells Fargo Lays Off Dozens

    2024-07-27

If you've lived in Florida in the past couple of years, you know that the banking industry has seen some changes and closures. Examples of banks that lost jobs in Florida in 2023 were Fifth Third Bank, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Trustco, and PNC Bank, to name a few examples. Unfortunately, that trend has continued somewhat in 2024. I've written about Citigroup's layoff of 20,000 jobs - some of them in Florida's Citigroup campus. And now, a Wells Fargo in Jacksonville is laying off 74 employees.

Details On The Recent Jacksonville Layoff: According to a warn letter dated July 23, 2024, the company has made the decision to "exit" the Global Operations business unit at the Jacksonville office located at 3563 Philips Highway. As a result, 74 employees will be displaced. Those employees do not have bumping rights and are not represented by a union.

Job titles of some of the affected jobs are CE Fraud & Claims Operations Representative, Senior Fraud & Claims Operations Representative, and Fraud & Claims Operations Associate Manager, as just some examples.

The letter says that Wells Fargo will offer affected employees severance benefits and the ability to participate in career transition services at no cost.

The office in question receives mixed reviews on Google reviews, earning 1.7 out of 5 stars. Some complained about delays and errors.

This isn't the time some Florida Wells Fargo locations have shut down. The following stores shut down in March of 2024:

    • 3400 South Monroe Street Tallahassee, Florida
    • 444 Gamble Street Tallahassee, Florida
    • 7931 Gunn Highway Tampa, Florida
