Florida Gets A New Option For Thrift Shoppers As A New Uptown Cheapskate Thrift Store Is Planned

    2024-07-29

Jacksonville residents will soon have more thrift options! In today's economy, it arguably makes sense to buy some things second-hand, assuming you have a high-quality thrift store that you enjoy. However, I'd argue that some Floridians like thrift shopping regardless of the financial implications. Specifically, it can just be fun to hunt for treasures.

A Savers survey found that 47% of respondents admitted that they loved finding hidden treasures at thrift and second-hand stores, and half of respondents reported shopping at thrift stores to save money.

Florida has some nice options for thrifters. Examples are Upscale Thrift Store and World Thrift, to name a few examples. And now Jacksonville residents are about to get an Uptown Cheapskate for their shopping pleasure.

About Uptown Cheapstake: The company's website says that it isn't your average thrift store because they offer 70% off mall prices and pay for your gently used clothing and accessories on the spot. The store offers deals on brands like Coach, Nordstrom, Anthropologie, The North Face, Levi's, American Outfitters, and Zara, to name a few options.

Generally, some Floridians embrace these franchises. A store in Tampa earns 4.3 out of 5 stars on Yelp. Many note the low prices and treasures they were able to find. A reviewer named Michelle wrote, in part:

"I love this store. I can't say enough good things about it. The staff is always friendly, (the) store is always clean and organized, and you cannot beat the prices for the name brands they offer..."

The New Store: The company just received a permit for a new store at 13500 Beach Boulevard, which will be the second location for Jacksonville once completed.

So very true. I would rather give my stuff to my neighbors or someone from YMCA or church.

Thrift stores are no longer cheaper than Walmart. Such a shame
