FL's "All American City" Has Been Named As A Place Where One Can Buy A Home For Under $100K In FL

If you doubt that there are homes to be had for $100,000 in Florida, I had them too. But in June of 2024, Go Banking Rates listed three cities that it said had real estate for under $100K. Two of the cities - were familiar, but one - Lauderhill - was not.

The Study And What It Measured: Go Banking Rates included condominiums in each search for inexpensive cities where one could buy a home for under $100,000, and it conceded that the homes might need some work. However, the publication said that it is possible to get into Florida at a low cost and eventually move into a bigger or better place when you can afford it.

The City That Might Be Unfamiliar to Some - Lauderhill: Two of the cities that made this list - Delray Beach and Jacksonville - may be familiar. However, I suspect that Lauderhill may be less well-known for some.

Lauderhill - sometimes called the "All American City" is part of the Fort Lauderdale metro, so residents of Lauderhill can enjoy the amenities there. Lauderhill is home to Central Broward Regional Park, a huge cricket sports complex, as well as Lauderhill Performance Arts Center and Lauderhill Park.

Plus, you are not far from the beach or sporting events hosted by the Miami Dolphins or Florida Panthers. The city isn't exactly small, with a population of around 75,000.

Residents give Lauderhill 3.5 out of 5 stars on Niche. Some took off stars for crime and safety. One reviewer wrote:

"Lauderhill is a great city. I can say this because I’ve lived here for over 18 years. Throughout my time here, I’ve enjoyed the many beautiful parks and amenities that surround the area. There are shops and plazas nearby that don’t require much commute time, and there are free monthly events, such as concerts that help bring people together and provide a good experience!"

$100K Housing Search: So what kind of homes can you find in Lauderhill for under $100,000? I searched on Realtor.com.

A 2 bedroom 2 bathroom 904 square foot condo in the 55 + community of Las Vistas recently sold for exactly $100,000 and a 2 bedroom 1 bath 840 square foot condo at Inverrary Country Club recently sold for $99,990. Both could use a bit of cosmetic work - judging from the photos.

Keep in mind, though, that many condos in Florida come with monthly fees. I've also written about Florida condos with very high special assessments due to recent new requirements.
