Permits Suggest That Another FL Winn Dixie Will "Sub-Divide The Space" To Become "A New Aldi Store"

Depending on shopping preferences, some Tampa shoppers may be happy and some may be upset to know that a recent permit suggest that a current Tampa Winn Dixie store may soon begin the process of becoming an Aldi.

What Led To This: Most Floridians are aware that some Winn Dixie stores in the Sunshine State will become Aldi stores due to Aldi's purchase of 400 Winn Dixie stores in the fall of 2023.

Aldi has been forthcoming in admitting that a "significant number" of Winn Dixie stores will be converted to the Aldi format. However, they've also said that "a meaningful amount" will remain a Winn Dixie.

I've reported on some Winn Dixie stores that appear slated to become Aldi stores. In fact, Aldi itself has identified stores in Panama City, Panama City Beach, and Lakeland that will be converting.

And I've reported on speculation that a Tampa store on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be converted due to information from employees.

And now, another Tampa store arguably appears to be ripe for conversion due to the recent filing of permits.

The Permits And The Store In Question: A permit was filed in late July in the city of Tampa in reference to a Winn Dixie at 2100 W Swann Avenue in south Tampa. Part of the permit wording states:

"The project is a retrofit of an existing Winn Dixie store to sub-divide the space for a new Aldi store. The extent of the work will include interior/exterior walls, refinishing or finish replacement of walls, and floors, rework of portions of lighting, electrical and mechanical as required to accommodate fixture /equipment modifications..."

Florida Feedback For The Winn Dixie In Question: The Winn Dixie in question has been reviewed over 1,500 times and it earns 4.4 out of 5 stars on Google reviews. Many mention the cleanliness and customer service. A reviewer named John wrote:

"Great selection. Fair prices. The best and most affordable steaks of any major grocery store in the area. The place looks really nice after it was modernized and renovated around 2016 or so."
