Florida Is Getting Three New Stores Of A Chain Known For Its Toasty Sandwiches, Potbelly

Some Floridians have been witnessing the expansion of the sandwich chain Potbelly for a while now. I've previously written about plans for Potbelly to add 50 Florida stores scattered around the state. And the Orlando area is expecting twelve stores while Plant City has recently announced a new one. And now, the Tampa Bay area can also expect three new stores.

About Potbelly: Interestingly enough, this chain started out as an antique store in Chicago over forty years ago. The shop refurbished potbelly stoves and eventually began to sell sandwiches. Eventually, lines to buy the sandwiches would extend out the door, and the Potbelly sandwich shop was born.

Foodwise, Potbelly is probably best known for its giardiniera sauce on its sandwiches and its toasted bread as well as its hand-dipped milkshakes and salads. Additionally, the shop is said to have an extensive secret menu.

A Tampa store earns 4.2 out of 5 on Yelp. Many complimented the flavor of the sandwiches, although a few complained about mistakes on orders. A reviewer named Patti wrote:

"(I) went to see George Strait at Raymond Stadium and stayed at a local hotel. Potbelly was within walking distance and (I) decided to give it a try... So good. Service was awesome, (and the) food was fantastic. Would definitely recommend it."

The New Stores: Three new Potbelly stores are planned in the Tampa Bay area. The first will be at 5004 Fourth St. North in St. Petersburg. An opening of August 14, 2024, is planned.

The second planned new store will be in new Tampa at 18027 Highwoods Preserve Parkway. The third will be in Largo at 13100 Seminole Boulevard.
