Florida Jumps In The Rankings As The 2nd Best Place To Live In The Nation - Up From 6th, Per Study

    2024-08-26

If you asked some Floridians, they'd tell you that the Sunshine State is the nation's best place to live. For the past couple of years, the website WalletHub hasn't quite agreed with that sentiment - as it ranked Florida 6th in 2023. But it did rank it second in 2024. Let's have a look:

The Survey and What It Measured: In August of 2024, the website WalletHub determined what it felt were the best states in the nation to reside in. To do so, it looked at metrics such as affordability, economy, education and health, quality of life, and safety.

How Did Florida Fare?: Florida came in second place for 2024, just behind Massachusetts and above New Jersey, Utah, New Hampshire, Idaho, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, New York, and Wyoming.

In 2023, Florida came in 6th in the same survey, behind Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New York, and Wyoming.

Where Did Florida Score Well?: Florida's highest ranking came for quality of life, followed by safety and the economy. Florida scored less well for the metrics of health and education and affordability.

Where Are The Best Places To Live In Florida?: According to AreaVibes, based on livability, the following are the best places to live in Florida:

    Wilton Manors

    Seminole

    Doctor Phillips

    Bay Harbor Islands

    St. Augustine

    Safety Harbor

    Jacksonville Beach

    Stuart

    St. Petersburg

    University

Pros and Cons Of Living in Florida: According to a June 2024 article by Pods, some of the pros of living in Florida are the weather, the natural attributes like Florida's beaches, and the lifestyle. Some of the cons are the expensive housing market, tourists, and bugs.
