Permits Have Been Filed For The Demolition & Rebuild Of 50-Year-Old, Highly-Rated FL Publix

    2024-08-27

Many Floridians know that it's not uncommon in Florida for Publix to tear down older stores and replace them with new, updated ones. I've written about stores in Fort Myers, Lakeland, and St. Petersburg that have been knocked down to make way for new stores, as just a few examples. And now, it appears that a 50-year-old store in Jacksonville will be getting the same treatment

About The Store In Question: Permits were requested for a $350,000 demolition and for a $9.3 million new building at the Publix store at 9964 Old Baymeadows Road.

The permit for the new build has reportedly been granted and the demolition permit is still in review.

The current 50-year-old store is around 49,553 square feet, and the new build will be 48,640 square feet. The Publix has been reviewed 1,900 times and receives 4.3 stars out of 5 on Google reviews. While some concede that it is an older store with parking difficulties, most are complimentary of the selections and customer service.

A reviewer named Cheryl wrote, in part:

"This Publix is great. Always fresh food if you're looking for better quality... People even help (you) bag! Very clean. Look for the sales. Otherwise, a bit pricey, but you do get what you pay for!!"

Demolition may prove inconvenient for shoppers who frequent this Publix, but there are relatively nearby stores at 10920 Baymeadows Road and 4413 Town Center Parkway.

The author is in no way affiliated with Publix or any other grocers or retailers.

Prices are going way up for this one! Someone has to pay for it and unfortunately it will be the public that shops there!! 😥😥

I fully, totally approve the demolition, but totally, DISapprove the re-structure of any Publix. Thanks for shopping at Publix where shopping is a hold-up🔫
