FL Named Both Best State And City To Live In The USA, But Has 3rd "Craziest" Residents, Per Study

In recent weeks, Florida has done well when it comes to surveys. I recently wrote about Florida ranking as the second-best state to live in by WalletHub. However, another study had Florida ranking first while also being home to the nation's "best" city - Tampa. That said, the survey takers felt that Floridians ranked high in terms of being the "craziest." Let's have a look.

The Study And What It Measured: Clever Real Estate surveyed 1,000 people in June of 2024 people to determine which states (and cities) were considered the best and worst to live in. The study found that respondents were most motivated by the metrics of safety, housing costs, weather, taxes, things to do, natural beauty, risk, infrastructure, schooling, public transportation, politics, employment, and diversity.

How Did Florida Fare?: Respondents named Florida as the nation's best state to live in. (California was number two.) Tampa was named the best large city to live in. (Orlando was five and Miami was ten.)

States that topped the least desirable list were California and New York.

Florida also came in number three (behind California and New York) as the state having the "craziest" residents. Florida also ranked 5th for the "most annoying" and "rudest" residents and fourth for the "most pretentious" (California and New York topped the list for "most pretentious" and New York was considered the "rudest.")

The southeast was named as the region with the "worst" accent right above New England, the mid-Atlantic, the Southwest, and the West.

A 2023 poll by the Florida Chamber of Commerce found that the majority of Floridians felt that the state was better off than others in the nation.
