Another FL Winn Dixie Confirmed To Be An Aldi. Parent Co. Vows A "Smooth Transition" For Associates

Many Floridians became aware of Aldi's purchase of 400 Winn Dixie stores in the fall of 2023. As a result, many realize that their local Winn Dixie may be one that is on the table for an Aldi conversion. (The company has clarified that not all stores will convert.) I've written about the confirmations of Winn Dixie stores in Panama City, Panama City Beach, Lakeland, Deltona, and Pensacola converting. Now it appears that there's another conversation confirmation - this time in Avon Park.

About The Location In Question And The Confirmation: Aldi has reportedly told Highlands News-Sun that the Winn Dixie at 802 U.S. 27 S. in Avon Park will close in October to begin Aldi conversation.

Senior director of communications and Community for Southeastern Grocers (the parent company of Winn Dixie) reportedly told the publication that the company is trying to make the change go as smoothly as possible for Winn Dixie employees, explaining, in part:

“SEG has worked diligently with ALDI to provide support and opportunities to each associate at converting stores to ensure a smooth transition..."

Patrons give the Winn Dixie in question 4.1 out of 5 stars on Google reviews. Some reviewers raved about the customer service and the store itself. A reviewer named Marcella writes:

"This Winn Dixie has the cleanest-smelling meat department I have (visited) in a very long time! You don't smell fish or bleach - just clean store! (The) staff is awesome and very helpful. Had two steaks cut for me and they were so kind and efficient. Thank you guys for having such amazing staff and store!"

Although Aldi does sell meat, it does not have a designated butcher or meat department onsite of its stores.
