Over the course of writing for Newsbreak for the past several years, I have come to believe that there are some brands and chains that Floridians particularly favor. Publix and Chick-fil-A are a few examples. And articles about both Texas Roadhouse and Del Taco have generated plenty of interest. Vero Beach residents may be interested to know that site plans have been filed in Indian River County for a parcel that would house both.
What's So Special About Del Taco?: So why do articles about Del Taco generate interest from Floridians? There is a perception that the food is quite tasty and it is reasonably priced. In the summer of 2022, Del Taco was named “The Best Fast Food Taco in America” in Thrillist’s article ranking the nation's best fast food tacos.
And bargain hunters may be happy to know that Del Taco isn't shy about offering specials like Taco Tuesdays.
Some Floridians praise their experience with the chain. For example a Google reviewer with the handle National Champion had this to say about a Del Taco in Bradenton:
"Mostly everything about my first Del Taco experience was amazing! But to top it off, the young lady ringing up my order (Emma) was showing me great customer service, providing great menu knowledge, and suggesting an epic Cali bacon burrito with steak - which was fantastic!!!!!! I will be returning soon."
What's So Special About Texas Roadhouse?: The company's website calls the chain "legendary," and says that it doesn't cut corners. All tables receive bread with honey cinnamon butter and menu items are scratch-made with an emphasis on meats and comfort food sides.
Eat This Not That named Texas Roadhouse as the nation's most popular steakhouse chain in 2022. A writer for Bon Appetit wrote the following about the chain:
"...Texas Roadhouse has a decidedly country cooking bent—a little Southern, a little Creole, a little clichéd-cowboy Texan. And though every dish didn’t hit the mark, the flavors were warm and familiar, and the portions were generous..."
The Site Plans: Site Plans have reportedly been submitted for a plot located at 6250 20th St. in Vero Beach. The plan proposes an 8,895-square-foot Texas Roadhouse, a 2,304-square-foot Del Taco, and an unidentified third building. Note that the site plans have only been filed, and have not yet been approved.
