FL-Based Jabil To Create 5,000 Jobs At $238 Million Facility In India After Laying Off US Positions

During the past couple of months, I've reported on some relatively substantial job losses in Florida like iVox Solutions and Badcock, both laying off over 100 employees. However, one Florida-based company, Jabil, is creating 5,000 jobs. Those jobs are not in Florida, however, but are in India.

About Jabil: This is a global manufacturing company with over 140,000 employees. They manufacture items in multiple markets such as healthcare, smartphones, automotive, and home appliances. The company is headquartered in Florida.

Employees give the company a 3.8 out of 5 stars on Indeed. Some said it was a great company with a good, relaxed work environment, but one person criticized the management and human resources department.

The Creation Of 5,000 Jobs Overseas: The company has reportedly announced that it will invest $238 million to open a new manufacturing site in Tiruchirappalli, India.

In the social media post on X that you can see below, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. K. Stalin, indicated that the move will create 5,000 jobs.

Layoffs In The United States: In the summer of 2024, Jabil announced plans to lay off 130 Albuquerque employees. In the spring of 2023, Jabil laid off 200 jobs in northern California after laying off over 1,000 in the state the previous holiday season.

However, there are currently several jobs for Jabil in St. Peterberg on Indeed. The positions listed range from Quality Engineer to Master Coaster to Master Inspector.

The author is not affiliated with Jabil or any other manufacturing companies.
