Popular FL BBQ Joint Called Southeast's "Best" By Southern Living Changes Course To Open On Sundays

There are hugely trafficked eateries and grocers in Florida who have chosen to close on Sundays and the decision hasn't seemed to affect their popularity. Examples are the eatery Chick-fil-A and the grocer Detwiler's. However, one Florida-based eatery, 4 Rivers Smokehouse, has changed its mind about being open on Sundays due to a variety of factors.

About 4 Rivers Smokehouse: This chain arguably began in a unique way. The owner was merely hosting a cookout to support a local cancer patient. This event would fuel 4 Rivers' practice of giving back. The first actual restaurant would open in 2009 in central Florida to a line outside of the door.

Today, the chain is known for its barbecue goodies like brisket, barbecue chicken, and pork. It has won awards such as being named the Best BBQ in the Southeast by Southern Living Magazine in 2021 and one of the Best BBQ brands in the US in 2023 by Eat This Not That.

Some Floridians praise the chain. A store in Tampa earns 4.3 out of 5 stores on Google reviews, where the eatery has been reviewed over 1,800 times. Many rave about the food, with the sweets being mentioned often. A reviewer named Daniel wrote:

"It is one of the best BBQ restaurants in Florida. If I come to Tampa, this is where I visit. Brisket is always tender and juicy. And the bread pudding is fantastic. (My) wife even loves it. Baked beans are also great!"

The Decision To Open On Sundays: Beginning on September 27, 2024, the restaurant will open from 11 am to 7 pm on Sundays, a new decision for the chain. According to a statement, the decision is meant to support the community, safeguard jobs, and maintain financial stability.

I was not impressed with their food in their restaurant in Gainesville. Leftover cold food!
