Another FL Winn Dixie To Become An Aldi. Associates Will Have Opportunity To Be "First To Apply"

Many Floridians know of Aldi's purchase of 400 Winn Dixie stores last year (with 75% of them in Florida.) As a result, some of Florida's Winn Dixie stores have been confirmed for conversion to Aldi. Examples about which I've written are stores in Panama City, Panama City Beach, Lakeland, Deltona, Ocala, The Villages, and Pensacola. And now, we have another confirmation - in Melbourne.

About The Store In Question: The Melbourne store located at 961 E. Eau Gallie Boulevard is listed as a participating kosher store on Winn Dixie's website.

The store has been reviewed over 1,800 times on Google reviews where it earns 4.2 out of 5 stars. While many had nice things to say, a few recent reviews mentioned issues with expiration dates. A reviewer with the handle AR wrote, in part:

"...They recently completed a renovation of this location and it looks excellent! Other than the looks, I’m still very skeptical of shopping here due to how many products (dairy products) I have come home with only to find out that they have been expired for well over several months and still sitting on their shelves."

And a reviewer named Atticus wrote, in part:

"...My salad kit had brown lettuce...off- tasting Cool Whip, and moldy mixed berries... I've never had a problem with this company until now. I hope they fix the issue...

The Confirmation And The Assertion That Current Winn Dixie Employees Will Be Given Priority For Aldi Jobs: According to Gulflive.com, the Winn Dixie will close in December for renovations and later open as an Aldi.

An Aldi spokesperson reportedly told the publication that:

“associates at this location have the opportunity to be the first to apply to newly converted Aldi stores."

This may be reassuring to some readers as I previously wrote about a warn letter that outlined the closure of a converting Lakeland Winn Dixie, which resulted in the reported layoff of 48 employees.

The author is not affiliated with Aldi, Winn Dixie, or any other retailers.
