Florida To Get A New $500 Million Hospital & "600 Or More High Paying Jobs With Benefits"

If you live in Florida, you know that the state's population is increasing. Florida reportedly gained 1,096,680 residents between the 2020 Census and April of 2023. More people means a greater need for services such as health care. And Floridians in Sunrise will be getting a new $500 million dollar hospital that will bring high-paying jobs with it.

About The New Hospital: A site plan was recently unanimously approved for Baptist Health South Florida to build a seven-story, 100-bed hospital located at 12401 W. Oakland Park Boulevard in Sunrise.

The hospital will reportedly be around 300,000 square feet and will include facilities such as an emergency department, surgical suite, critical care, a laboratory, and respiratory therapy. There will also be medical buildings with access to a pharmacy and outpatient facilities.

Bo Boulenger, president and CEO of Baptist Health South Florida had this to say about some of the benefits that the hospital will bring:

"...We are going to do it as quickly as possible and we are going to spend probably $500 million building in Sunrise. This is a permanent investment... We will probably hire 600 or more employees with high-paying jobs with benefits..."

This will be the first hospital in Sunrise's city limits, and residents sometimes drive to Florida Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale. Commission Joseph Scuotto reportedly told the South Florida Business Journal that the Medical Center "may be closing."

Sunrise has a population of around 96,000 people and the city of Sunrise has allocated $25 million toward city improvements.

100 bed hospital is small. Maybe that's what they are starting with. That will fill up quickly. I work at a 600 bed hospital. keep coming to Florida people. Build, build build, that's all we are doing. Very sad.
