FL-Based Jabil To Cut More Jobs After Announcing 5,000 New Overseas Jobs At $238 Mil. India Facility

I often write about job losses in Florida. There have been some Florida-based companies who have laid off employees recently, including Badcock as well as Winn Dixie (whose parent company is headquartered in Jacksonville.) Winn Dixie is laying off some employees due to Aldi conversions, although the employees can reportedly apply at Aldi. I've also written about Florida-based Jabil creating jobs in India. And now, the company has announced that it is laying off more jobs.

About Jabil And The Creation Of A Facility And Jobs In India: Jabil is a very large global manufacturing company with over 140,000 employees. The company is diverse in that it manufactures items in multiple categories such as automotive, smartphones, healthcare, and home appliances. The company is headquartered in Florida.

In September of 2024, Jabil announced that it was going to invest $238 million to open a new manufacturing site in Tiruchirappalli, India, which is expected to create 5,000 jobs.

Jabil also has a 516,000-square-foot manufacturing site in Croatia.

The Announcement Of New Layoffs: In early October of 2024, Jabil announced that it plans to cut more jobs as part of a restructuring effort. The company reportedly plans to reorganize $150 to $200 million dollars over the course of 2025. The company did not specify where in the US the cuts would occur.

However, it has previously cut US jobs, including 130 in Albuquerque employees and over 1,000 in California.

Jabil has seen dropping revenue in recent years. In 2023, it had annual revenue of $34.7 billion. For this fiscal year, it has earned $28.9 billion, and it reportedly expects to earn $27 billion in 2025.

Jabil is headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The author is in no way affiliated with Jabil or any other manufacturing companies.
