"Iconic" FL Waterfront Bar & Grill Shuckers Is Closing Soon To Become An Upscale Hotel With Eatery

People who live in and visit Florida know that there are longtime waterfront bars that are beloved parts of the landscape. Examples are Doc's Beach House and Ocean Deck Restaurant and Beach Bar, as a couple of options. Unfortunately, one such beloved bar, Shuckers, will soon be gone. Floridians and visitors who want to say goodbye should hurry as it will be gone by the end of October.

About Shuckers: The website for this Miami Beach eatery calls itself "iconic" but this proclamation isn't necessarily bragging. Axios has called it "iconic" as well. The longtime bar and grill has been serving the community for 30 years.

As you might imagine, this is a laid-back beach bar that encourages you to relax and enjoy a game or beverage in a festive atmosphere. You can also enjoy a beautiful view while you chomp down on comfort foods like wings, ribs, burgers, and fresh seafood. If you are so inclined, you can drive a boat up to the restaurant, order from the "sail away" menu, and eat right on the boat.

The eatery has been reviewed over 5,200 times and earns 4.2 out of 5 stars on Google reviews. One reviewer named Matt encouraged people to visit while they could, writing, in part:

"...My first time (here,) having just moved to Miami. Awesome views and setup. Food is good. Drinks and service are great…I also learned this is the last summer of this spot so check it out while you can!!"

The Closure And Upcoming Luxury Hotel And Eatery: In the summer of 2024, it was announced that Shuckers would close later in the year to be replaced by a new development called Palm Tree Club. The new development would include a new upscale hotel with 118 upscale suites, plus an eatery.

Shuckers' Last Days: The Bar and Grill, located at 1819 79th Street Causeway, will officially close on Sunday, October 27th. Bruce Siegel, Shuckers VP of Operations, said he hopes the community will come and say goodbye, explaining:

“We are devastated to have to close the doors...So many locals have created incredible memories here over the decades. We hope to welcome everyone back for one last time during these last two weeks.”

Shuckers reportedly hopes to be able to reopen in a new location eventually.

The author is not affiliated with Shuckers or any other restaurants.
