Florida Dunkin' Donuts Shut Down After State Inspection

Floridians who are feeling indulgent can get their donut, bagels, or coffee fixes at places like Krispy Kreme, Starbucks, and Dunkin Donuts. Unfortunately, one store of the latter - a Dunkin' Donuts in Deltona - was recently temporarily shut down after a state inspection.

About Dunkin' Donuts In Florida: I'd suspect that most Floridians are familiar with this brand since there are over 900 locations in the Sunshine State.

Many people know that this chain began in Boston, and it's relatively old, originating in the 1950s. And while "Donuts" is right in the name, Dunkin' is also beloved for its coffee.

The location in question, at 499 Howland Boulevard, earns very mixed reviews, at 2.6 out of 5 stars. Some complained of incorrect orders and one reviewer mentioned food safety. A reviewer named Kathy wrote, in part:

"This is a horrible, horrible place to go. My frozen butter pecan coffee was nothing but syrup. The iced coffee had curds in it. The manager was very rude and some employees looked scared of her...(Until) you can see a new management sign, stay away. Unless you like surprises in your coffee..."

What Happened At Inspection?: According to data from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, an inspection occurred on September 30, 2024. At that time, 9 violations were noted.

Examples of basic violations were for things like not having a bathroom for public use as bathrooms were out of order and not flushing, a floor with a puddle of milk, objectionable odors emitting from the bathroom drains, and cups being stored on the floor.

Intermediate violations came because the handwash sink was being used for purposes other than handwashing and no paper towels were available.

And a high-priority violation came because an employee went from the drive-through computer to preparing food without changing gloves or washing hands.

As a result of some of the above, the restaurant was temporarily shut down.

At a follow-up inspection on October 1, 2024, the restaurant "met inspection standards" and was free to reopen.

Please note that an inspection is one moment in time and not necessarily how a restaurant conducts itself every day.
