    Flood warnings issued for multiple counties in Wisconsin and Minnesota

    LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- Flood warnings have been issued for multiple counties in western Wisconsin and southeastern Minnesota.

    Counties in western Wisconsin include La Crosse, Vernon, Crawford, Grant, Trempealeau, Jackson, Buffalo and Pierce. Houston, Winona and Wabasha counties in Minnesota are under warning as well.

    In La Crosse, the river is expected to rise above flood stage Sunday afternoon and continue rising to 13.6 feet by Wednesday afternoon. A ccording to the NWS La Crosse, flood stage is 12 feet and as of 11:15 am on Sunday, the stage was 11.9 feet.

    The following precautions should be taken during flooding:

    • Do not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
    • Be cautious when walking near riverbanks.
    • Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
