    VA Celebrates Centenarian Vets

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- The VA held an event to honor veterans over the age of 100 at Valley View Mall on Wednesday.

The ceremony was made possible by the Centenarian Program, a special initiative launched by the VA in 2020.

Veterans, their families, and members of the community gathered to enjoy coffee and cupcakes.

Qualifying centenarian veterans were given plaques and customized quilts in recognition of their service and venerable age.

A total of six centenarians were honored, all between the ages of 101 and 107.

If you know a veteran of a certain age who you'd like to nominate for next year's centenarian honors, call the Tomah VA Center for Development & Civic Engagement office at (608) 372-1727.
