Great Rivers United Way gives back with annual Day of Caring

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- Giving back to the community by completing 20 projects for local nonprofits. That's the aim of the Great River United Way's annual day of caring, which took place Wednesday.

185 volunteers turned out to help local nonprofits, including The Parenting Place and WAFER Food Pantry.

The volunteers at the event represented 14 local businesses.

Projects ranged from landscaping to cleaning to stocking shelves.

The Great Rivers United Way's executive director says the Day of Caring benefits a wide range of area partners.

"So, we are all over the community here today. We're at The Family and Children's Center, we've got volunteers at The Parenting Place, we've got volunteers at Reed," said Mary Kay Wolf.

Great Rivers United Way estimates volunteers completed $20,000 worth of projects on Wednesday.
