The 133rd Annual La Crosse Interstate Fair kicks off for five days of family fun

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- The 133rd Annual La Crosse Interstate Fair started in West Salem Wednesday and runs through the end of the weekend.

This week, News 8 Now This Morning 's Alexandra Carter spoke with Hannah Johnson, this year's elected "Fairest of the Fair". She highlighted the animal-judging events, the live concerts, fair rides, and food. There will also be an auction on Saturday night.

For family friendly activities, there will be a children's scavenger hunt, Miller & Mike magic shows, and a kid's pedal tractor pull. The tractor pull registration opens thirty minutes before the event starts. Other showcased events include draft horse wagon rides, woodturner's demos, and a horse pull.

Johnson emphasizes that the strong community bond is part of why the festival has held strong for so long.

Admission and parking are both free, though some special events at the fair cost extra to attend.
