Independent Living Resources hosts fundraiser to celebrate 30 years of service

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- Independent Living Resources Inc. held a fundraiser on Tuesday celebrating their 30 years of service in La Crosse.

The fundraiser was held to support the non-profits mission to empower people with disabilities to lead their best lives.

The fundraiser included a chicken Q catered by Rooster Andy's Chicken.

In addition, the nonprofit hosted an open house to showcase how it helps people with disabilities lead independent lives.

"People with disabilities, all we want is to be able to live just the way that you live, the people that are non-disabled, we just want to live our own lives," said Logistics Coordinator Marilee Adamski-Smith.

The Caravan for Disability Freedom and Justice will be back on the road tomorrow with their next stop in Green Bay.
