New La Crosse Aldi location opens its doors in former Shopko building

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- On Thursday, La Crosse's first Aldi store opened its doors to the public, filling the vacancy left by the former Shopko at 4344 Mormon Coulee Road.

The grand opening kicked off at 8 a.m., with the first 100 shoppers receiving special gift bags and gift cards.

This marks the second Aldi in the La Crosse area, joining the existing store in Onalaska. Allyson Rausch said the new location is cutting down on her drive time.

"I used to go all the way to Onalaska, which is about a 20-minute drive from my house. So, when I heard they were opening up this store, I was super excited," said Rausch.

The new location will operate daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
