47-year-old Louis Ray was sentenced in federal court Thursday. He pleaded guilty in March to a fentanyl distribution charge.

A confidential informant working with the La Crosse Police Department made six controlled buys of cocaine and fentanyl from Ray between April and June of last year.

Ray sold the informant 97 grams of cocaine and 184 grams of fentanyl.

During sentencing, Judge William Conley said Ray "took advantage of addicts to make a living," and referred to his criminal history prior to being convicted in federal court as an "unbroken dedication to crime."

A co-defendant in this case, Timothy Cannon, was sentenced to 6 years in prison on July 9.
