Knott Landfill & Recycling Center Closed on Sunday, July 28
Knott Landfill and Recycling Center will be closed for maintenance on Sunday, July 28. While Knott Landfill is typically open to the public seven days a week from 7am to 4:30pm, it will be closed Sunday, July 28, 2024, while crews chip seal roads within the facility. We are asking the public to plan accordingly and choose a different day to drop off their waste and recycle items.

(KTVZ) -- It was a packed house at Autzen Stadium on Saturday as 35 volunteers with the nonprofit Sleep In Heavenly Peace in Bend made the trip over to Eugene to link up with the Oregon Ducks football team. After four hours of work Saturday morning, 200 beds were built for kids in need.

Tuesday thunderstorms a concern for Larch Creek Fire
Containment is growing on the Larch Creek Fire near Maupin, but possible thunderstorms Tuesday night are raising concerns. The official Tuesday morning update from fire managers indicated the fire held relatively steady at 18,689 acres and was 14% contained. The source of the human-caused fire has not yet been revealed.
Shaniko Wool featured in U.S. Olympic Opening Ceremony uniforms
A little piece of Oregon will be on display at the Olympics in Paris. The Opening Ceremony blazers for the U.S. Team will feature Shaniko Wool. The company started in Shaniko, about 80 miles northeast of Bend. It’s had a long history of working with Ralph Lauren for the Winter Opening Ceremony and, now, the Summer Games Opening Ceremony.
