    Art submissions sought

    The Maryland Center for School Safety is accepting submissions for its Art Showcase through June 7. The theme is Safe Spaces. Go to bit.ly/SchoolSafetyShowcase.

    Youth concerts planned

    Charles County Youth Orchestra will hold concerts on Saturday, June 8, at noon at the Indian Head Village Green in Indian Head and at 3 p.m. at Christ Church in La Plata. Go to www.charlescountyyouthorchestra.org for more.

    Beach Bumz to perform

    Troupe staging ‘Christians’

    Dragon boat races return

    The End Hunger Dragon Boat Festival will be held beginning 9 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at Chesapeake Beach.     Warrior run set

    Cobb Island Days set

    The Cobb Island Day Festival will be held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 8. Parade, silent auction, dance performance, rock wall, fun house, axe throwing and more.

    Boat regatta planned

    The Piney Point Rumble on the River will be held Saturday, June 8, and Sunday, June 9, at Piney Point Landing in Piney Point. Heats will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 8, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 9. Go to www.southernmarylandboatclub.com.

    Contra dance scheduled

    Southern Maryland Traditional Music and Dance will host a contra dance 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at Christ Church, located at Zack Fowler Road in Chaptico.     UCAC Juneteenth planned

    The Unified Committee for Afro-American Contributions will hold its 20th annual Juneteenth Celebration noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Lancaster Park in Lexington Park.     Patuxent art exhibit continues

    Patuxent High School will host an art exhibit showcasing teen artists in Southern Maryland at the Calvert Library’s Southern branch. The exhibit runs through June.
