    A teen collaborative art project will be held all day June 7-8 and June 10-13 at the Waldorf West branch. Help make Teen Central an art space.

    Homeschool recess: The Pisgah Park summer games will be held 10 a.m. to noon Friday, June 7, at Pisgah Park, 6645 Mason Springs Road in La Plata.     Behind The Story: Author Freida McFadden will be held virtually 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, June 3. The author of the bestselling “The Housemaid” series will discuss the process of writing psychological thrillers. Registration required.

    Generating Text with AI will be held 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the Lexington Park branch. The interactive workshop will introduce the ethical uses of Chat GPT and Perplexity along with ways they can be utilized in everyday life. Registration required.

    Summer Reading event will be held June 8 through Aug. 24. The theme is Adventure Awaits at Your Library. Earn a free book after completing the first challenge, and a glow-in-the-dark t-shirt or tote bag after the second challenge. Collect treat/food coupons or stickers for challenges 3 through 5. Complete all five challenges and be entered into a gift card drawing. Registration required.

    A free R.A.D. women and teens self-defense class will be taught 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8, and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at the Lexington Park branch. Learn new skills and proactive strategies to help protect yourself and others. The class is fun, energetic and interactive. Class includes nine hours of instruction and practice, training manual and light refreshments. Registration required.

    Intro to 3D Printing will be held 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the Leonardtown branch. The course will cover the basics of how a 3D printer works, how to use PrusaSlicer software, how to find ready-to-print files online and submit them to the library for printing. No experience needed.     Mr. Jon will perform 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Mechanicsville Elementary School, and 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, June 14, at the Lexington Park branch; and 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at the Leonardtown branch. A sensory-friendly performance will be held 2 to 3 pm. Saturday, June 15, at the Leonardtown branch.
