    Show off that red, white and blue at Fourth of July events

    Charles County will hold a Fourth of July event with fireworks from 3 to 10:30 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at the Charles County Fairgrounds, 8440 Fairgrounds Road in La Plata.

    There will be pony rides, live local music and food and beverages available for purchase.

    The grand finale will be a digital pyro-musical display shot off and thundering to a multicultural musical blast by Innovative Pyrotechnic Concepts.

    Indian Head will host its annual Fourth of July celebration beginning at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at Village Green Park, 100 Walter Thomas Road in Indian Head.

    There will be amusements, pony rides, live entertainment by DJ Rockin’ Roger & G Frequency and fireworks.

    Food and beverages will be available for purchase from such vendors as Big Boy Tacos, Circus Ice Cream, Pizza Hotline, Ohana Shaved Ice and more.

    Solomons Business Association will host a Fourth of July event and fireworks on Thursday, July 4, on Solomons Island.

    Scheduled events include a flag raising ceremony at 10 a.m., a youth bike race at 11 a.m., boat parade at noon, free historical Adventure Quest for kids with Revolutionary War reenactors from noon to 3 p.m., live concert by Social from 7 to 9 p.m. and fireworks beginning about 9:15 p.m.

    Chesapeake Beach will host a fireworks celebration Wednesday, July 3, at Kellam’s Field in Chesapeake Beach. Bring a blanket and picnic, but no glass containers or alcoholic beverages.

    The fireworks display, which begins at dusk, is viewable from Kellam’s Field, along the Fishing Creek bridge, at Veteran’s Memorial Park or at waterfront restaurants or the Rod ‘N Reel Resort.

    Leonardtown will host Fourth at the Wharf from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at the Leonardtown Wharf.

    There will be contests, activities, yard games, watermelon eating contest, dog parade, crab derby, ping pong, chess games, yard games and more. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Midnight Sunsets will also perform.
