BERRIEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man from Indiana has died after an early morning crash in Berrien County.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened shortly after midnight on Deans Hill Road near Hochberger Road in Berrien Township.

Investigators believe the driver was heading northeast and failed to navigate a curve in the road, hitting the guard rail, running off the roadway and hitting several trees.

The driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash. He was trapped inside and was pronounced dead on scene. Police have not released the driver’s name, only stating he was a 29-year-old man from Laporte, Indiana.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit.
