On July 1, Amazon visited FIND Food Bank's warehouse for a day of giving, volunteering and celebration. In addition to a $45,000 donation, Amazon provided a van loaded with 900 pounds of food and nonperishable items, including car seats and other family products.

The check presentation was attended by FIND's President and CEO Debbie Espinosa, Amazon's Head of Community Engagement and Public Policy David Ambroz, 25 Amazon volunteers and local government officials, including Felipe Ortiz representing Assemblymember Greg Wallis, Cathedral City Assistant City Manager Anne Ambrose, City of Coachella Councilmember Frank Figueroa, City of Desert Hot Springs Mayor Pro Tem Jan Pye and City of La Quinta Mayor Linda Evans.

Following the presentation, People Serving People, Amazon's employee-driven community service group, unloaded the van of donated goods and packaged nearly 700 bags of fresh produce for same-day delivery to FIND distribution sites.

"We know that FIND Food Bank supports a lot of families in need … and we want to be part of that solution, so we are here today donating funds to provide 180,000 meals, along with nonperishable food items, feminine hygiene products and even car seats to support other critical family needs," Ambroz said.

Amazon is devoted to ending hunger and has shown great support of FIND's hunger relief work in the Greater Coachella Valley and high desert communities. It continues to support the food bank through its annual partnership event, financial assistance and volunteer service.

    About FIND Food Bank

Founded in 1983, FIND (Food in Need of Distribution) Food Bank is the desert's regional food bank, serving more than 5,000 square miles, including eastern Riverside and southern San Bernardino Counties, from the high desert and Joshua Tree across the Coachella Valley to Anza, down to the Salton Sea and to the border of California and Arizona.

FIND is the largest hunger-relief and food rescue organization in the region. It is the Feeding America food bank for the Coachella Valley desert region and is recognized as the USDA distributor for eastern Riverside County and the county of Riverside and by the state of California as the regional Disaster Response food bank.

FIND's mission is to end hunger today, tomorrow and for a lifetime. To end hunger for today, the nonprofit currently feeds an average of 150,000 individuals, families, children, seniors and veterans each month. Its 150 distribution sites include more than 80 community agency partnerships (soup kitchens, religious organizations and local nonprofits) and 42 community mobile markets that serve food to the desert's low-income areas. FIND's two distribution centers, strategically located in the Coachella Valley and the high desert, help ensure equitable food distribution for all.

To end hunger for tomorrow, FIND offers outreach services to connect people who are food insecure with benefits programs that improve financial security. FIND works to end hunger for a lifetime by identifying the root causes of hunger to break cycles of food insecurity and achieve self-sufficiency.
