An annual charity helping seniors and others repair their homes is ready to dish out some more love. United Way of Eastern La Salle County is again accepting applications for their “Labor of Love” program. “Labor of Love” provides essential home repairs for senior, disabled, and veteran homeowners, at no cost. Repairs are provided to homeowners who cannot do the work themselves because of financial or physical limitations.

Smuggler apprehended by Laredo agents and local sheriff's deputies
LAREDO, Texas — On July 16, 2024, Laredo Border Patrol agents, along with La Salle County and Frio County Sheriff's Deputies, intercepted a suspected smuggler. Lee County man dies after Route 251 crash north of Mendota
A Lee County man died following a single-vehicle crash Sunday north of Mendota. David T. Gorman, 47, of Steward, died at OSF St. Paul Medical Center in Mendota from injuries after his southbound vehicle left Route 251 and struck a tree, according to a Tuesday news release from the La Salle County Coroner’s Office.
