La Salle County YANA to host regional director of Convention of States
You Are Not Alone announced a special event in collaboration with Save Our American Republic at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at Jamie’s Outpost, 602 S. Clark St., Utica. The highlight of the evening will be a presentation by Lance Foust, the regional director of Convention of States. The Convention of States is a significant process allowing state legislatures to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution, with the goal of curbing federal overreach and restoring a balanced power structure in government.

La Salle County Car and Truck to host July 13 meet in Princeton
The La Salle County Car and Truck meet from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at the Princeton Road Ranger, 2835 N. Main St. Dash plaques are available for the first 30 vehicles. There will be five trophies: best of show, best truck, best car, group choice and kids choice. Vehicle entry is $10. There also will be a 50/50 raffle.
Alleged Marseilles Murderer Enters Not Guilty Plea; Jury Trial Set For August
A jury trial date has been set for a Marseilles man accused of killing his father on Father's Day weekend. Twenty-one-year-old Logan Petre pleaded not guilty Wednesday to three counts of first-degree murder. Judge Cynthia Raccuglia set an August 26th jury trial date. In the meantime, Petre will remain in the La Salle County Jail and will get his mental fitness examined by a doctor. He's been behind bars since June 15th.
Man charged with Marseilles murder pleads not guilty, to undergo mental health exam
A Marseilles man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges he strangled his father. Logan Petre is set for trial Aug. 26, but that date may be ambitious. Petre, 21, would face 20 to 60 years in prison, with no possibility of probation, if convicted of first-degree murder in La Salle County Circuit Court. He allegedly strangled Leo Petre in the family home on Father’s Day weekend. Logan Petre could face additional time if also convicted of a pending home invasion charge.

Victim In Cedar Point Fatal Crash Is Identified
If you've been following the story of a fatal wreck outside Cedar Point, the victim has been identified. The La Salle County Coroner's Office says 56-year-old Dewayne Chandler of DePue was pronounced dead Monday morning after the crash on Route 71. An autopsy was done and the coroner reports that preliminary results indicate Chandler died from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
