The Sheridan woman reported missing June 26 was located and is safe, the La Salle County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday. She now is with family, the sheriff’s office said. There was no foul play or criminal activity found in this investigation, the sheriff’s office said Sunday. No further information will be released at this time, the sheriff’s office said.

A Marseilles man charged with brutally beating his father to death won't be let out as part of Illinois' controversial pretrial release provision. Judge Cynthia Raccuglia on Wednesday emphatically denied 21-year-old Logan Petre pretrial release. She said “I can't think of anything left that would prevent the danger he presents, except detention”. Petre remains then in the La Salle County Jail, charged with 3 counts of murder.

Spring Valley Man ID'd As Roadside Accident Victim
The name of the individual who was struck and killed while changing a tire outside of Peru on Friday has been released by the La Salle County Sheriff's Office. Jacob A. Stewart, 33, of Spring Valley, was hit by a southbound vehicle on Route 251 and 36th Road, near Dimmick. Stewart was taken by ambulance to OSF in Mendota and flown by Life Flight to Rockford where he was pronounced dead.
