Ross earns first-team All-Area baseball honors
CUMBERLAND — The Cumberland Times-News All-Area baseball teams were unveiled last week, and multiple Garrett County athletes were featured. Northern Husky junior Luke Ross earned first-team honors as an outfield selection. Second-teamers from Garrett County included Northern’s Robert Deatelhauser (pitcher) and Wally Brands (infielder) and Southern’s Reece Tasker (catcher) and Jared Haskiell (utility).

MCHENRY — Garrett College has set summer enrollment records for student headcount, total credit hours taken, and the number of High School Dual Enrolled (HSDE), according to data released Monday by the College. There are 155 students — including 61 HSDE enrollees — taking 642 credit hours this summer....

MCC Tri-State Relief Sale set for July 20
SPRINGS, Pa. — The annual MCC Tri-State Relief Sale will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20 at the Springs Mennonite Church, 1686 Springs Road, Springs, Pa. The live auction is held under a tent with seating available. It will include antiques, quilts, comforters, collectibles, and many hand-crafted items, including a Pysanky art-crafted ostrich egg. Bedford Borough has released the tentative construction schedule for replacement of cast iron pipe waterlines from July 8-11. One crew will be working on East Pitt Street between Wood and Bedford streets, with parking restricted on both sides of East Pitt to allow for one-lane traffic controlled by temporary lights. A second crew will be performing asphalt restoration on Juliana Street between Pitt and Penn streets, and Penn between West and Richard streets on July 8, and on Penn between Richard and Anderson streets on July 9. In both areas, parking is restricted to allow for two-way traffic. On July 10 and July 11, the crew is scheduled for project restoration throughout the borough.

Wheeling Football’s Week Eight Matchup with Frostburg State shifted to Thursday night
