RHP Zach Messinger (5 IP, 4 R, 2 ER, 4 H, 4 BB, 2 K) took the loss in his 16th appearance (14th start) of the season. Over his last 11 outings since the start of May, the Yankees No. 21 prospect has posted a 2.84 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 57 IP with 62 K. Messinger ranks among the Eastern League leaders with a 3.60 ERA (10th), 92 K (1st), 85 IP (3rd), .211 AVG (6th), and a 1.14 WHIP (5th). Messinger has allowed 2 ER or less in 12 of his 16 appearances this season for Somerset.

Sharon E. (Bohn) Scollo, 74, of Manns Choice, died June 19, 2024 after an extended and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 21, 1950 in Cumberland, MD, a daughter of the late Lloyd C. and Evelyn L. (Amick) Bohn. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1968 and attended Point Park College in Pittsburgh. She attended the Woodstock Music and Arts Fair in 1969, which was the signature event of her generation. It was billed as “3 days of Peace & Music” and attended by nearly 500,000 young people, with 32 musical acts. It was one of the largest music festivals in history. She later joked that she was invited to go because she was the only one of her friends who had at tent, and because they knew she could cook, and that she would take care of them if something went wrong!

Somerset stole a season-high seven bases in the contest, which matches the single game Patriots Double-A era record. The Patriots have won six of their first seven games to begin the second half of the season. Over the first seven games of the second half, Somerset leads all of Double-A with a .291 BA, 52 R, 73 H, 32 XBH, and 124 TB as a team.
