Barbara Walker
Barbara Naomi (Niemiec) Walker, of Somerset, born on July 5, 1938 left this earth peacefully on July 1, 2024. The universe has gained a very bright shining star. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Barbara was the daughter of John and Leona (Blair) Niemiec. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, John, Joseph and Frank; sisters,” Mickey”, Betty and “Peaches” and son-in-law, Georgie. Dearly loved and survived by husband, Kenneth Walker; children, Lee Ann Perry, Mary Ann (Sammy) Panza, Kenny (Sherry) Walker and John (Linda) Walker; grandchildren, Barbie, Jacy, Tyler, Kristen and Lindsay; and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Logan, John, Rosalind, Daven, Caydon and baby Ira Jane. She is also survived by sisters, Toni Mayak and Debie Snider and brothers, Rich (Becky) and many loving nieces and nephews and friends. Barbara graduated from JBJ High School where she was a majorette. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Barbara loved her family fiercely, loved the “Mountain Ground Camp”, the beach, nature, flowers and knitting. (She knitted more baby blankets and scarves than the sky has stars and loved giving them as gifts). There was nothing that she could not do. She wanted steps from her kitchen to the family room so she put a hole in the floor and when Ken came home one day the new steps were there! Her love for life, family and friends had no boundaries. Barbara never met a stranger. She led by example and brought the best out of everyone she met. Barbara passed from this earth with the same grace and dignity that she lived each and every day. She was ready to meet up with the other angels in Heaven. Barbara will be greatly missed by all more than words can say. At Barbara’s request, all services will be private. Arrangements by MILLER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY of Somerset. Interment will be held at Somerset County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers and in Barbara’s memory, as you pass a stranger to today, give them a big smile, a kind word or a hug. We are all better people from knowing her.
