An Observer investigation has found irregularities in how the Houston ISD superintendent's Colorado charter school nonprofit did business in Texas. Houston Independent School District (HISD) Superintendent Mike Miles claims to be a financial wizard. But controversy has followed the former military man-turned-school administrator to nearly every Texas school district he’s served. In 2012, he was hired by the Dallas Independent School District (DISD), only to be ousted by a majority of the school board three years later after an investigation showed Miles violated district policies.

Border Wall Thieves Plead Guilty, Sentenced To Time Served
Two men who’d been arrested for stealing close to $1 million worth of stored border wall panels two years ago will spend no more time in jail. The McAllen Monitor reports that in plea agreements with federal prosecutors, the pair have been sentenced to time served. Juan Nestor Rojas had spent a little more than 2 years in jail while Jose Emmanuel Gonzalez had been in jail for a little more than one year. Both were charged with stealing federal property.
