Domestic disturbance call ends in pursuit through Rusk County, suspect charged

LADYSMITH, Wis. (WKBT) -- The suspect in a domestic disturbance call led authorities on a high-speed chase that ended in Chippewa County Sunday.

According to the Rusk County Sheriff's Office, they were called for a disturbance Sunday night. As they arrived, deputies said the driver of a black SUV was erratically swerving through the yard, before driving past them and feeling east on US Highway 8 towards Ladysmith.

During the pursuit, Ladysmith Police tried to stop the SUV with a tire deflation device but were unsuccessful.

The SUV headed south on State Highway 27 eventually crossing into Chippewa County.

A second tire deflation device was deployed, this time by Chippewa County authorities, which proved successful and stopped the SUV.

Rusk County's release says responding authorities used "less-lethal impact munitions" to bring the suspect, 44-year-old Jamie Masanz, into custody.

Court records show Masanz is charged with six counts including 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety. A judge ordered a cash bond of $1,000 dollars Tuesday. His initial appearance is on July 9.
