    Mosey on Main, Plant Fest among weekend's events

    Toddler Thursday

    Recurring this May, Imagination Station will host Toddler Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon. at 600 N. 4th St., Lafayette. This event is $7 and entails various crafts, hands-on activities, sensory experiences and more. Today’s theme is bugs.

    Couples’ Scavenger Hunt

    Couples can download the Digital Date Nite Box app and enjoy a self-guided scavenger hunt all around West Lafayette. The activity also includes digital activities and tasks. Tickets are $20 per couple. There are various starting points, but it’s recommended to begin at 504 W. State St., Lafayette.

    Bike 2 Work

    May is National Bike Month, and the Greater Lafayette Bike Month Planning Committee will host Bike 2 Work Day on Friday. At 7:45 a.m., attendees will bike from either the West Lafayette City Hall or 11th and Main Street, Lafayette, to the John T. Myers Pedestrian Bridge on 200 N. 2nd St. for a celebration at 8 a.m.

    Downtown Gallery Walk

    Downtown Lafayette will host the first day of its Downtown Gallery Walk. From 6-9 p.m., several art galleries in the downtown area will open their doors for passersby. Some galleries will have refreshments, art sales and opportunities to speak with or watch the artists work. Maps are available at galleries, restaurants and other businesses. This event is free and open to all.

    Live Irish music

    Lachlan, a musical duo, will perform at 8 p.m. at Nine Irish Brothers at 3520 State Road 38 E., Lafayette. Their music is a mix of Irish folk, traditional tunes, contemporary and Americana. Additionally, the West Lafayette location at 119 Howard Ave. will host The Thompsons at 9 p.m. The Thompsons play Irish music and feature fiddle and acoustic guitar. Both events are free and open to the public.

    Lights and Lines

    Artists’ Own Gallery will display Robert Leavitt’s abstract paintings in an exhibition called “Lights and Lines” from May 17 to July 13. The opening reception is May 17 from 6-9 p.m., during the Downtown Gallery Walk. The gallery is regularly open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 518 Main St., Lafayette. The event is free and open to all.

    Rabindra Jayanti festival

    Purdue University Tagore Society will host a celebration on the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, featuring musical performances by members. This event takes place in Krannert 140, at 191 N. University St., West Lafayette, from 6-9 p.m.

    Lilly Nature Center

    The Lilly Nature Center will host its 14th annual celebration of nature at 1620 Lindberg Road, West Lafayette. The celebration will include various nature activities and demonstrations. Participants will learn about birds, reptiles, insects and more. The event begins at 10 a.m. and is open to all ages. No registration required.

    Mosey Down Main Street

    Downtown Lafayette will host its first Mosey Down Main Street of the season, a celebration of the greater Lafayette art community. The event features music, food, drinks and street performances from 6th to 11th streets, Lafayette. The event is 6-11 p.m. and free for all ages. Mosey Down Main Street will also take place on June 8, July 13, Aug. 10 and Aug. 31.

    Feed farm animals

    The Farm at Prophetstown will host an event to make treats for farm animals, including chickens, horses, JJ the donkey and more, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This event is free with park admission, and takes place at 3534 Prophetstown Road, West Lafayette.

    Native Plant Fest

    The Tippecanoe County Parks Department will host its native plant sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees can also enjoy hikes, presentations, conservation booths and a food truck. This event takes place at Ross Camp at 9225 W. 75 S., West Lafayette.

    Ball Mansion Tour

    From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Historic Ball House will be giving house tours. Tickets are $30 and proceeds go toward DAR Historic Preservation Projects. To reserve a spot, email cyrusballhouse@gmail.com. The event takes place at 402 S. 9th St., Lafayette.

    More live Irish music

    Traveler’s Dream, a traditional Irish band, will perform at Nine Irish Brothers’ Lafayette location at 7:30 p.m. This event is free and open to all at 3520 State Road 38 E., Lafayette.

    Indiana State Parks free admission

    Indiana State Parks will waive admissions fees. This includes West Lafayette’s Prophetstown State Park, located at 5545 Swisher Road.

    Flea market

    The Dreamer Markets will host their Spring Flea Market from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 5074 E. 550 S., Lafayette. The market features over 65 vendors, food, a photo booth and more. The first 20 shoppers will receive a free tote bag with special prizes. This event is free and open to all ages. Pets are allowed.

    Wine After Work

    Every Friday to Sept. 27, Wildcat Creek Winery will host Wine After Work. There will be a food truck and live music from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 3233 E. 200 N., Lafayette.

    Tourism Week

    National Travel and Tourism Week will be celebrated throughout the greater Lafayette area the week of May 20. Some events include Triple XXX root beer and popcorn at Visit Lafayette on Monday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., free entrance to Columbian Park Zoo from 12-4 p.m. on Tuesday and more.

    Heritage Breed Week

    To celebrate Heritage Breed Week, all are welcome to visit The Farm at Prophetstown any weekday from 3 to 3:30 p.m. to meet one of their heritage breeds. The event is free with park admission, and located at 3534 Prophetstown Road, West Lafayette.
