Teenager stabbed at City Bus Center in Downtown Lafayette

A Lafayette teenager is in critical condition after he was stabbed near the City Bus center in Downtown Lafayette Thursday afternoon, Lafayette Police said.

The 17 year old juvenile male victim was transported to the hospital after police arrived at the scene of the stabbing around 2 p.m. at 316 N. 3rd St, Lafayette. As of Thursday evening he remains in critical condition.

The Lafayette Police Department was able to locate and apprehend a A 16 year old male suspect after LPD verified the connection between them. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, and arrested on preliminary charges of aggravated battery, battery with a deadly weapon, and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.

Further investigation is on going, and LPD believes both the victim and suspect are from Lafayette.
