RUSHFORD – “If you take anything away from this presentation today, it’s this: get your well tested,” Tannie Eshenaur told southeast Minnesotans earlier this summer. Eshenaur, the Water Policy Center Manager at the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), spoke to private well owners at a June Nitrate Open House – part of its education and outreach efforts related to groundwater pollution in southeast Minnesota. Mankato Firefighters to Conduct Real-World Training at Scheduled Live Burn on South Front Street
The Mankato Fire Department is scheduled to carry out a live burn training session tomorrow, providing firefighters with hands-on experience in a controlled setting, the department's live fire exercise is set to take place at 1002 S. Front Street, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 20th. According to an announcement on their official Facebook page, the training will involve a real structure that's already in line for demolition.
Teenager Airlifted to Hospital After Stabbing at Mankato Apartment, Suspect Zion Olivera Charged with Assault
An assault investigation is underway at Sibley Parkway Apartments in Mankato after an incident left a teenager with a stab wound. The Mankato Department of Public Safety reported that officers responded to the scene on July 19, where a 16-year-old male had been injured during a disturbance just before 1 a.m. According to the City of Mankato, Minnesota Government , the young man was airlifted to Mayo Clinic in Rochester to receive treatment for stab wounds to his abdomen.

Bruce Davis, a jovial man, decided a few weeks ago to resign as head baseball coach for Tri-City United High School after 37 years in the position. “I really don’t have any reasons to retire. I still love coaching. Last spring was as much fun coaching as any season,” said Davis.
Hector woman killed in weekend crash in Renville County
(Hector MN-) The Renville County Sheriff's Department is investigating a fatal crash that happened Sunday afternoon northeast of Hector. At 3:34 p.m. Sunday they got a 911 call about a one vehicle crash near the intersection of County Road 22 and 850th Avenue, 5 miles northeast of Hector. Emergency responders found a pickup resting on it's top at the bottom of a creek bank, but not in the water. There were two people inside, and emergency crews removed the driver, 40-year-old Nikolaus Beglau of Hector and passenger Katie Dupre, age 36 of Hector. Despite life-saving efforts, Dupre died at the scene. Beglau was flown by air ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center and his current condition is unknown. Investigators believe Beglau had been northbound on County Road 22 when he entered the ditch, went airborne and the pickup landed on it's roof on the opposite side of the creek.
