Whitman School Names Inaugural Albert and Betty Hill Professor
The Martin J. Whitman School of Management has recently named Professor Natarajan Balasubramanian the inaugural Albert & Betty Hill Professor, effective July 1. With a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, Balasubramanian joined the Whitman School in 2009. His research focuses on understanding economic value creation by new and existing firms, using large-scale data to uncover generalizable facts and how competition, innovation and learning affect the entry and performance of firms. Balasubramanian’s teaching includes areas of strategic management, firm performance, technological change and industry evolution to undergraduate and graduate students at the Whitman School.

Former Syracuse basketball star Buddy Boeheim has landed a new exhibit 10 deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder just two days after the Detroit Pistons waived the forward. A dementia prevention study originating from Columbia University is about to get underway soon in Syracuse. SUNY Upstate Medical University is seeking local residents to participate in the “MAP… or Metformin in Alzheimer’s Dementia Prevention Study.” Top geriatric researchers are looking to confirm whether the drug can help prevent those with mild cognitive impairment from getting full blown Alzheimer’s disease. Father’s Day Fishing Trip Turns Tragic: A Water Safety Wake-Up Call
This past Father’s Day, a tragic accident occurred at Oneida Lake in Hastings, New York. Anthony Davis, 44, from Clay, lost his life while trying to retrieve his keys from the water. Davis and his friends were fishing when the keys fell in. Both Davis and his friend Wattie Cappers, 42, from Syracuse, jumped into the lake, but neither could make it back to shore. Thankfully, marine patrol rescued Cappers, but Davis was later found by a diver and pronounced dead at the hospital.
