Whitman School Names Inaugural Albert and Betty Hill Professor
The Martin J. Whitman School of Management has recently named Professor Natarajan Balasubramanian the inaugural Albert & Betty Hill Professor, effective July 1. With a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles, Balasubramanian joined the Whitman School in 2009. His research focuses on understanding economic value creation by new and existing firms, using large-scale data to uncover generalizable facts and how competition, innovation and learning affect the entry and performance of firms. Balasubramanian’s teaching includes areas of strategic management, firm performance, technological change and industry evolution to undergraduate and graduate students at the Whitman School.

Dominic Hamel gave up three runs in the first and another two more in the third, but it was a disastrous fifth inning that really did the Mets in. All with two outs, Hamel and Victor Castaneda gave up seven runs on a single, three doubles, a homer, and three walks (not in that order). Syracuse ended up plating a respectable four runs, and if that fifth inning hadn’t happened, the game would’ve been close, but instead, it was a laughter.

Former Syracuse basketball star Buddy Boeheim has landed a new exhibit 10 deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder just two days after the Detroit Pistons waived the forward. The Fayetteville native has spent the last two years with the Pistons organization, splitting time between the G-League affiliate Motor City Cruise, and Detroit. Boeheim still had a year left on his two way contract before Detroit decided to waive him.
Syracuse’s Almond Street to close for advance work related to I-81 project
The state Department of Transportation plans to close Almond Street in Syracuse for part of July to do utility work in advance of the I-81 project. The street is scheduled to close at 6 a.m. Monday, July 8 and reopen at 6 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, according to the DOT.
3 men arrested after ramming and shooting at car in DeWitt during road rage dispute, police say
Syracuse, N.Y. — Three men in two cars have been arrested after police say they chased down a vehicle, rammed it and shot at it in DeWitt last week, police said. Two cars chased a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo on North Midler Avenue, near the CSX bridge around 12:22 p.m. Tuesday, DeWitt Police said. The chase occurred due to an argument that happened earlier in Syracuse, they said.
