Fatal Syracuse House Fire Investigation Leads to Homicide Charges
(WNY News Now) – Syracuse – A devastating house fire on South Ave in Syracuse has been determined to be a homicide, leading to the arrest of a suspect already in custody. On June 30, 2024, at approximately 10:58 p.m., multiple 911 calls reported a house fire at 2017 South Ave in Syracuse. Responding Syracuse Police Officers and the Syracuse Fire Department discovered an active blaze. While several occupants managed to escape, it was reported that another person might be trapped inside.
Syracuse women’s lacrosse picks up transfer from Rochester area
Syracuse, N.Y. —The Syracuse University women’s lacrosse team has picked up a transfer from the Rochester area. Ava Peers of Fairport, N.Y., who spent her freshman season at the University of Louisville as a midfielder, will transfer to Syracuse for the 2025 season. John Riley Jr. ’61 often credited the education and opportunities he received at Syracuse University for his success. His gratitude shaped his approach to both service and philanthropy at his alma mater.
