Members of Syracuse’s Columbus Monument Corporation say they are back at square one following a recent decision by the state's Court of Appeals. Last month, the state's highest court denied a motion from the Columbus Monument Corporation to reargue the decision on whether the city of Syracuse can remove the Christopher Columbus statue in Downtown Syracuse.

During her two-decades-long career at Syracuse University, she has served as a professor of writing and rhetoric, associate dean of curriculum, innovation, and pedagogy for the College of Arts and Sciences, chair of the department of writing studies, rhetoric, and composition, and director of undergraduate studies for the writing program. Two arrested after accidental shotgun discharge hits home with baby inside
BREWERTON, N.Y. — Two people were arrested by Cicero Police last week after accidentally discharging a shotgun into a neighboring home where an 8-month-old lives. According to Cicero Police, officers were dispatched to Chalkstone Course in Brewerton on June 24 for a possible shots fired complaint. Upon arrival, they met with Brandi Anderson of Brewerton, who directed police to her apartment where they met Marc Salvetti of Cicero.

Father’s Day Fishing Trip Turns Tragic: A Water Safety Wake-Up Call
This past Father’s Day, a tragic accident occurred at Oneida Lake in Hastings, New York. Anthony Davis, 44, from Clay, lost his life while trying to retrieve his keys from the water. Davis and his friends were fishing when the keys fell in. Both Davis and his friend Wattie Cappers, 42, from Syracuse, jumped into the lake, but neither could make it back to shore. Thankfully, marine patrol rescued Cappers, but Davis was later found by a diver and pronounced dead at the hospital.
