Woman dead, firefighter injured after fire on city’s southside
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — A woman has died after a fire on Syracuse’s southside. It happened on South Avenue, about a block away from Swallow’s. A firefighter was also injured. We’re told he fell inside the home. He was taken to the hospital but has since been released.

(WNY News Now) – Syracuse – A devastating house fire on South Ave in Syracuse has been determined to be a homicide, leading to the arrest of a suspect already in custody. On June 30, 2024, at approximately 10:58 p.m., multiple 911 calls reported a house fire at 2017 South Ave in Syracuse. Responding Syracuse Police Officers and the Syracuse Fire Department discovered an active blaze. While several occupants managed to escape, it was reported that another person might be trapped inside.

Man rescued from burning Syracuse home dies 10 days later
Syracuse, N.Y. — A 69-year-old man who was taken to a hospital after being rescued from a house fire in June has died, firefighters said. Richard Tyminski died on Saturday from injuries related to the fire., Capt. Matt Craner, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Fire Department, said Monday. He was found inside the basement of a home at 923 Park Ave. during a fire on June 19, he said.
